Overview

Renzym SDR Framework (RSF) is a software implementation of a complete communication system capable of generating and demodulating a wide range of communication waveforms with modulation schemes like M-ary PSK, QAM and FSK etc. It can be used with SDR Communication Kit (SCK), HF SDR Transceiver (HST), or any other analog front-end hardware to readily establish a communication link for digital data transmission. RSF is very useful for researchers who are involved in algorithm development for communication systems, especially software-defined radios (SDR). Using its modular software architecture and APIs users can enable, disable or modify different modules and they can also write their own custom modules in higher-level programming languages like C/Python, etc. Furthermore, they can record signals, for further analysis, at any stage of Tx/Rx processing chains and also visualize waveforms for graphical analysis like time and frequency domain plots, eye diagrams and scatter (constellation) plots.

The combination of RSF and SCK can also serve as training equipment for undergraduate and graduate communication labs where students can generate different modulation schemes and develop algorithms for different receiver operations like carrier and timing synchronization, equalization etc. RSF also provides unique opportunity to the researchers to start their design work with assumptions like near perfect carrier or timing synchronization and initially develop basic algorithms for such idealized conditions. Later on they can relax these assumptions gradually to come up with a robust design for real-world conditions.
